STSM Field Report #5 – North & South India #2

Today we have our final report for our India team before they head back to America!

Namaste!

Since the last update, we have done VBS at the St. Paul School in Berikai, and church encouragement services in Andhra Pradesh. Both being more rural areas, we needed to trust in God’s provision of strength and patience. We witnessed how the global church body worships on Sunday, and was blessed greatly by their passion and zeal. We have just begun our traveling ministry visiting places like Hyderabad, Varanasi, Agra, and Delhi. Some of the cool places we’ve been and will go to are the Charminar, Golconda Fort, Agra Fort, and the Taj Mahal. More than just seeing landmarks, this is an opportunity for us to pray over the country of India as we journey through it. After a 30-hour train ride, we’ve finally arrived in the religious capital of India, Varanasi. We will be walking through the city and going on tours to see religious rituals and ceremonies.

At this time, we ask that you’d pray for us in the following ways:

1. That we’d be hopeful even in the midst of spiritual darkness and to know that God is sovereign even over what goes on in Varanasi. He is not absent, but is watching and moving carefully and actively.

2. For our health and the remainder of our trip. God has answered many of our healing prayers, and our team is back to full health after a season of sickness. Please pray that we’d be actively listening to God and ministering to each other for the remainder of this trip.

Jaimasikhi!

Hello from North India! On our previous update, we were preparing for a 13-day road trip to visit different churches that our missionary contact had planted or supported, including Mirik, Jaigaon, Gossaigaon, and Ranirhat. Time has flown by; and not only did we come back from this trip to our main base, but today is our final day of ministry. It’s crazy to think that we will be finishing out our ministry schedule so soon!

The past two weeks have been filled with many different places, people, and experiences. At Mirik, we were able to see the beautiful tea gardens that drape the mountainsides of India and spend a Sunday service with the village people. At Jaigaon, we were able to serve at an orphanage, school, and discipleship training program; all run by one big family! In the city of Gossaigaon, we were truly blessed to see how God is working mightily over the completion of a new church. Finally, in Ranirhat, we were able to gather the children living in the village to teach them English and do VBS. God is truly moving in India! This upcoming week will be our travel portion. Then we will end our trip with a sports day and missionary appreciation night!

Please continue to pray for India. That those who are believers will be bold, united, and faithful in their obedience to God, and that nonbelievers will soften their hearts to the Gospel and accept Jesus as the one and only God.

Please pray for safe travels and that our team will be prayerful about India and to trust in God’s covenantal relationship with us that never changes.
